Let’s be real for a second.
There are days I wake up and the last thing I want to do is open my Bible. I know I should. I know it’s good for me. But sometimes, my flesh just wants to lay in bed, scroll my phone, or binge a show. Sound familiar?
Yeah, I’ve been there too.
The Flesh Is Loud—But the Spirit Is Louder
Every day, there’s a tug-of-war happening inside of us. Our flesh wants comfort, ease, and distraction. But the Spirit? The Spirit is calling us deeper. Calling us to truth. Calling us to life.
Jesus said it plainly in Luke 9:23:
“If anyone wants to follow me, let him deny himself, take up his cross daily, and follow me.”
Daily. Not just when it’s convenient. Not just when we feel inspired. But every single day.
When It’s Hard, That’s When It Matters Most
Let me be honest: there are times I don’t want to listen to a sermon. I don’t want to study. I don’t want to pray. I just want to rest. But I’ve learned something powerful—those are the moments that matter the most.
Because when I choose the Word over my weariness, I’m not just building a habit—I’m building my spirit.
The Word Changes Everything
Reading the Bible isn’t about checking a box. It’s about transformation. It’s about letting God speak into my chaos, my confusion, my tiredness. It’s about realigning my heart with His truth.
Even if I only read one verse, even if I only whisper one prayer—it’s worth it.
Because the Word is alive. It’s active. It’s the sword I fight with and the anchor I cling to.
Keep Showing Up
If you’re in a season where it feels hard to stay consistent, I get it. But don’t give up. Don’t let your feelings dictate your faith. Keep showing up. Keep opening your Bible. Keep pressing in.
God sees your effort. He honors your hunger. And He will meet you right where you are.
