It’s easy to be distracted today. Sermons echo through apps. Social media floods us with snippets of devotionals, reels of “Christian influencers,” and half-baked doctrine. But in all this noise… are we truly hearing God?

For the children of God, distraction isn’t just inconvenient…it’s dangerous.

We weren’t called to just attend church we were called to be the Church. To live in the power of the Holy Spirit. To war in the Spirit. To discern the times. And yet, so many of us have traded focus for feel-good teachings

“For we through the Spirit wait for the hope of righteousness by faith.”

‭‭Galatians‬ ‭5‬:‭5‬ ‭KJV‬‬

But waiting requires attention. It requires sensitivity. How can we hear the whisper of God’s voice when our minds are cluttered and our spirits dulled?

God didn’t stop speaking when the Bible was canonized. He speaks through His Word, yes, but also through the Spirit. Through dreams, conviction, revelation. But we’ve become far too dependent on pastors to spoon-feed us truth.

Believers must sharpen their hearing. Get back to prayer. Open the Word. Quiet the soul.

More Than Just Sermons…We ourselves need the word of God

The early church wasn’t built on cute outlines and worship concerts. It was built on the power of the Holy Ghost. On bold deliverance. On unshakable faith. On the ability to call out, cast down, and stand firm.

Too many churches fear the supernatural move of God. Why? Because it doesn’t fit into a schedule. It’s messy. It’s raw. It requires surrender.

And yet that’s exactly what Jesus promised:

“And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues…”

‭‭Mark‬ ‭16‬:‭17‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Let’s clear the air: speaking in tongues is not demonic. It’s biblical. It’s spiritual. It’s a divine gift that edifies the believer and communicates mysteries to God.

The confusion surrounding tongues isn’t new—it’s just louder. Paul addressed it head-on in 1 Corinthians 14, reminding the church not to forbid speaking in tongues, but to ensure it’s done in order and with reverence.

Misunderstanding breeds fear. And fear breeds religious bondage. But those who walk by the Spirit know:

“He that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries.”

‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭14‬:‭2‬ ‭KJV‬‬

We talk a lot about God but very little about the spiritual realm He moves in. Angels. Warfare. Demons. Principalities. These aren’t fantasy, this is reality. And without spiritual understanding, believers stay stuck in cycles of defeat.

When we ignore the spiritual realm, we reduce Christianity to a routine. A checklist. But the Spirit calls us to awaken. To discern. To walk in fire.

This isn’t about hype. It’s about truth. Jesus is coming. And He’s returning for a bride that’s ready. Not distracted. Not passive. Not ill-equipped. But drenched in the Spirit, anchored in the Word, and bold in her calling.

So yes…it’s time to refocus.

On His voice. On His Word. On the divine purpose planted deep in your spirit.

Not tomorrow. Now.
